Destiny Exhibition

We are pleased to share that a cornerstone of Zambian visual heritage is returning to public view in Lusaka for the first time in many years.

Henry Tayali's 'Destiny', one of Zambia's most formative and celebrated works, will open for public viewing at The Lechwe Trust Art Gallery.

The exhibition offers a journey through Tayali's vision, with 'Destiny' as the focal point. Painted before he received any formal art training, the piece captures the early brilliance that would shape his remarkable career.

From its bold, expressive strokes that confront history and identity, to intimate moments that speak to the soul of our communities.

Acquired by the Lechwe Trust in 1991 to safeguard Zambia's visual heritage, Destiny had been exhibited internationally earning recognition as a pivotal work in modern African art.
